lyrics

Once I met a pirate a sailor proud and free
He told me stories of just how glorious pirates’ lives could be
So I signed aboard his pirate crew and sailed away to sea
Where I learned a pirate’s life is not the life for me

The morning when I first awoke he handed me a mop
He ordered me to swab the deck all day I couldn’t stop
Well I never heard a pirate was supposed to clean the floor
So I don't think I wanna be a pirate anymore

No I don't really wanna be a pirate anymore
I thought it was the life for me but now I'm not so sure
So turn your ship around me boys but leave me on the shore
Cause I don't really wanna be a pirate any more

I thought I'd find adventure in a foreign port of call
But soon we hit the doldrums and we didn't move at all
So pump me boys and roll me boys the bosun he did shout
If that's the life of piracy then you can count me out

But then at last the day came when they handed me a gun
They taught me how to use a sword play fighting was such fun
But when we attacked a merchant ship play fighting turned to war
And I don't think I wanna be a pirate anymore

Chorus. No I don't...

We paid an awful price in blood to win our merchant prize
The next port was unfriendly, oh what a grim surprise
By hangman's nose or battle, nearly half the crew were dead
But I stole away so here I'll play for a pint or two instead

So all you would be pirates a warning take by me
If your thinking of adventure don't waste your life at sea
For a short drop and a sudden stop are all that lie in store
For anyone who wants to be a pirate anymore

Chorus. So I don't…
Final... No I don't really wanna be a pirate anymore
